Lifeguard training
Swim Lessons Hawaii swim school provides Lifesaving Society courses and Leadership Courses with at home private swim lessons for those seeking lifeguard training and to learn lifesaving skills through the Lifesaving Society. The Lifesaving Society's lifesaving courses begin with Swim Patrol lessons, followed by Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and finally Bronze Cross in order to qualify for lifeguard training and swim instructor training and certification.

The final step to becoming a lifeguard, the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Award, is available through Swim Lessons Hawaii, however few home pools meet the size requirements set out by the Lifesaving Society to complete the NLS course.
Swim Patrol
The USA Swim Patrol program is the on-ramp to lifeguarding for 8-12-year-olds
who are ready to go beyond regular swim lessons. Swim Patrol has 3 levels –
Rookie, Ranger & Star. Content is organized in 3 groups – Water Proficiency,
First Aid, and Rescue. Swim Patrol develops swimming strength and efficiency
with emphasis on Water Smart® behaviour. Skill drills enhance capability
in the water, good physical conditioning and lifesaving judgment.
Swim Lessons Hawaii swim school provides at home private swim lessons
or small group swim lessons for the Lifesaving Society's Rookie, Ranger
& Star Patrol Level to help students learn at a quicker pace and retain
more information.
Bronze Star Course
Bronze Star training provides excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. With Swim Lessons Hawaii private swim lessons for Bronze Star, participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills individually and in partners. Candidates will also learn CPR and develop the lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifeguard.
Bronze Medallion Course with CPR-B and Emergency First Aid
The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion award teaches an understanding
of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water-rescue
education – judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. The Bronze Medallion
Course involves learning tows and carries, and defence methods and releases
in preparation for challenging rescues involving conscious and unconscious
victims. Bronze Medallion private swim lessons also teach lifesavers to
develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim.
Swim Lessons Hawaii swim school offers the Bronze Medallion Course for
participants 13 years and older, or those with Bronze Star. The duration
of the program with Swim Lessons Hawaii depends on the number of participants
of the swim lessons.
Bronze Cross Course with CPR-C and Standard First Aid
The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Cross award is designed for lifesavers
who want the challenge f more advanced training including an introduction
to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite
for all advanced lifeguard training programs including National Lifeguard
Service and Instructor certification.
Swim Lessons Hawaii teaches Bronze Cross to those with prerequisites of
Bronze Medallion Award and Emergency First Aid certification (need not
be current) and a minimum of 14 years of age. Bronze Cross private swim
lessons with Swim Lessons Hawaii can be taught one-on-one or in small
groups and the duration of the program will depend on the number of participants.

These Lifesaving Society certified leadership swim programs allow the student to learn the
required skills for lifeguard training and swim instructor training in an efficient and
focused manner since they are taught in smaller group setting with Lifesaving Society
certified Instructors and Examiners.
With Swim Lessons Hawaii swim school, participants can books lessons at times convenient for
them. Swim Lessons Hawaii's flexible scheduling means that participants can complete the
lifeguarding training at a pace that is spread out over a number of weeks, or in a condensed
crash course format. Swim Lessons Hawaii's private swim lessons for NLS courses are taught
by experienced Swim Lessons Hawaii swim instructors, who provide individual first aid and
swim instruction in a smaller class environment, unlike training through city pools where 20
swimmers or more are enrolled in the leadership program, leaving little time for each participant
to receive much attention for this rigorous course.
Lifeguard training and swim instructor training with the Lifesaving Society program are currently
